Investigations
The more that advocates and affected communities know about a harmful project—who owns it, and who else makes it possible and profitable—the more avenues they have to secure accountability.
Since 2016, we have been taking requests from community advocates to research and map the investment and supply chains behind such projects. We use our proven Follow the Money approach to identify the banks, investors, insurance companies, development finance institutions, major brands and other stakeholders enabling these projects. We then work with community advocates to use this information to inform and strengthen their advocacy strategies.
Our researchers bring decades of combined experience to these investigations, using a range of open access and subscription-only tools to reveal information that might otherwise be obscured for advocates working on the ground. We search strategically, following the money to uncover details and identify actors linked to harmful projects. With hundreds of investigations and years of corporate accountability campaigning and case work under our belts, our team also brings deep expertise in translating this information into advocacy strategies that get results.
For advocates who want to develop their own Follow the Money research and advocacy skills, we also offer a range of tools and training. Learn more.
